Sigh . . . Double Sigh.

Sigh.

I did it.

This week.

Friday, actually.

I went to Home Depot.

And, I learned that Home Depot is designed for Men and Lowe's is designed for Women.

I hated Home Depot.

Too confusing -- nothing was where it logically should be.

The Staff was NOT helpful.

Except for the paint guy, who talked too much and made too many over-the-top obvious statements. (Yes, sir, I AM thinking painting a room in my house. Yes, sir, my child IS a girl. Yes, sir, I KNOW to make sure the paint lid is securely on.)

But, I came away with paint.

Two cans.

Bonjour Beige and Appalachian Trail.

I've very globally aware in my paint selections.

I rearranged our entire downstairs in preparation for painting.

I mean COMPLETELY rearranged.

Only the kitchen stayed the same (and that's just because I couldn't move the appliances).

I was very sweaty -- and it wasn't the good kind of sweat.

Then, I decide to paint a sample wall in Bonjour Beige.

That's when I learned that I hadn't purchased any brushes.

I tried using a kitchen sponge.

I now have a very streaky wall muttering, "Bonjour."

This is why I waited two years to begin repainting my downstairs.

It never goes well.

Double Sigh.

I also hate Home Depot. Good thing our's closed. We have always been a fan of Lowe's. And i know how you feel about painting. We've been trying to paint for 2 years as well. We wanted all the rooms done by Christmas of 2006, and well, still only have the kitchen, living room, and hallway done! The living room and hallway have actually been painted twice! we also painted the girls' bathroom, but havent moved any further onto the bedrooms or our bathroom. at this rate, it'll never get done.

Did you say hi to Lola at the paint section of Home Depot?

She is on the Glidden Paint ads. The girl with the crayon on her hand coloring the wall. LOL.

I am not fond of Home Depot either. However, I am jealous that you are getting some painting done. My house still has white walls, yuck!

You are SO right! Lowe's IS for women! I don't know how I never saw it before!!! Can't wait to see what Bonjour Beige looks like.

Oh, I'm so with ya on the whole Home Depot thing! LOL Usually, if there is a store my hubby likes, I have learned to steer clear of it!

As for the "streaked" wall, I'm sure it looks vogue. I was in a very expensive mansion style home the other day and they "purposefully" made their walls looked "cracked" with the paint so it would give the appearance of a period home. WHAT???? Seriously. It's the newest paint technique and quite frankly it sucks.

So you see, your walls look much better than a million plus dollar's. Post pics - I want to see when you are all done :-)

At least it's welcoming. How many other walls do you come into contact with that greet you with such eloquent French?
:)
If you need help painting, just call me! I love painting walls!!

I actually really like painting. I don't always make the best color choices, though...

And nobody at HD asked you if you needed brushes? Geez, the post office ladies grill me every time I try to mail a package about whether I need stamps or mailing supplies or delivery confirmation or return address stamps or my carpets cleaned ...

Mr. Patient and Obvious needed to ask if you had paint brushes. They would have at Lowes at the check out. LOL.
