I have gone from having a house that was clean each day to a house that is . . . well . . . NOT!
It would be nice if I could blame the Hubby or The Little Lady or Charlie the Munnie. And, while I can certainly say they are responsible for the mess and clutter, I can't let them take the blame for the house being dirty. That is my fault alone.
Sigh.
I've turned in to one L.A.Z.Y. mama. I don't want to do a thing each day but lay on the couch, watch Law and Order, and eat deliciously addictive Cadbury Mini-Eggs. Those are the only things on which I want to spend precious energy. Dusting? Sweeping? Loading the dishwasher? Ugh! FORGET IT!
I have taken this time of laziness and low energy to do two productive things: I taught The Little Lady how to clean up her toys AND how to use the Swiffer.
That's right, The Little Lady has chores, even though her mama is too lazy to get her pregnant butt off of the couch. If I start singing our silly little "Clean Up Time" song, my industrious toddler gets to work, grabbing every toy in sight and throwing them in the toy box. She LOVES it! And, to be perfectly honest, so does Mama.
But Swiffer time is her favorite. Give her a loaded Swiffer and that little girl Goes. To. TOWN! All over the living room and kitchen she glides, proud of her big girl job.
Now, if I could only teach her how to make my bed and do laundry. THAT would make my life practically perfect in every way.
There's nothing wrong with a little toddler labor, is there? ? ? ? ?

you'll get your energy back one day. :)
Nothing wrong at ALL! Maybe you should rent her out?
My theory, with regards to messes (both cleaning up and the right to make one) is that it is just as much their house as it is mine. They can make them, but they can also clean them up. My husband is big on keeping their toys/clothes/miscellaneous items "contained" to their room....this doesn't make sense to me. Why should two people have to keep everything they own to one room - when we (also two people) have the entire house to dominate? It doesn't seem possible...so, in keeping with my views on that - absolutely not. There's NOTHING wrong with toddler labor. And, as for laziness -- isn't that all part of pregnancy??? Hello? You're working 24/7 - making that baby!!!
Can I borrow her?? I'm not pregnant, and you should see my house. You shouldn't worry a bit. The mess will still be thre tomorrow.
Nothing wrong at all. haha I say take advantage of it while it lasts, because I am most certain that it will not.
teehee I love it. No, there is nothing wrong with a little bit of Toddler Labour lol.
I'll come clean your house for ya! I love cleaning :-)
LOL My daughter loves to use Swiffer so funny!
The energy will come back :)
don't forget the dishes and vacuuming! my son LOVES to put away his items from the dishwasher. and whenever i break out the vacuum, he comes running in with his toy vacuum. as soon as he's tall enough i'm going to get him one that actually plugs in so his efforts aren't wasted! LOL!
Don't worry, you deserve the rest...just share the Cadbury Mini-Eggs, they are my fav!
Thank goodness for toddlers that like to clean. I have a few of those. Mine like to wipe dirt off the kitchen floor with Clorox wipes.
BHAHAHAH!!!
Our younger son LOVES the clean up song too. He's not good at cleaning up, but he looks so cute while he sits there and sings the song...and his brother cleans up!
Nothing wrong with that! lol. Better to do it now so they don't complain (as much) when they are teens!
I am the SAME WAY...this pregnancy is knocking me out. I have a sinkfull of dishes staring me down and NO MOTIVATION!! The Boy Wonder is starting to catch on about cleaning up his toys but he LOVES using the swiffer AND the broom vac! Maybe we should start a cleaning service...
I think it is cute that she likes to help her Momma!! :)
I giggled at "toddler labor". As long as it's fun for her, why not? LOL
I totally get where you are coming from with the low energy. I'm lucky I do enough laundry to have clean undies every day! LOL
Please send Little Lady to my house for a day. I'll pay in Cadbury Creme Eggs. :)
I'm a great procrastinator ~ actually wrote a post about it
DD22 likes to clean for me. I pay in Pandora charms!
I am actually going through the exact same thing... but I was never good at cleaning the house, but it was definitely cleaner before I was pregnant too. I was the same way with my first pregnancy too, but I really was sick and had no energy then... but this time around, I think I have enough energy but I turned into a couch potato. lol I wish my kid is old enough to help me out with the chores. ;)
Yep, sounds like my house. But at least you have an excuse (and a GOOD one at that) - you're preggers. Just remind hubby of that all the time. I used the "preggers" excuse for just about everything throughout my three pregnancies. My favorite? "Honey, please go out (it's 10:00 at night) and get me some Maggie Moo's ice cream. Oh, and then I need you to please massage my swollen ankles." LOL
