Revelation

All sorts of things were learned at our latest Doctor's appointment this past Tuesday.

The Little Lady learned that scales are fun to jump on.

We all learned the baby's gender (more on that in a second).

And, my Hubby learned how IUDs are inserted and removed.

No -- I'm not planning on getting one, but my doctor had a "teaching tool" on the counter. Hubby was too curious to pass it up. Sigh.

I'm not sure why the various medical models always draw that boy's attention; I was TERRIFIED that my doctor would walk in on Hubby intently attempting to "learn" all that the model had to offer. (Grrrrrr!)

As far as the Anatomy/Gender scan went, it was GREAT! For a few weeks leading up to the visit, I had been dreading the scan. Oh, I was excited and anxious to learn our baby's gender, but I was so afraid that we would learn something was terribly wrong.

Praise God - this baby is perfectly formed and perfectly healthy. In fact, our baby is measuring about a week ahead at a little over 12 ounces. Woo hoo!!!!!!

The Little Lady was oblivious to all that we learned during the scan; she was too concerned with her cookies and the fact that the lights were all turned off. This was not the case for Mommy and Daddy. We were intently watching the screen, waiting for any glimpse that would tell us what pronoun we could start using to describe our baby.

And, we saw it.

The Little Lady is getting a Little Brother!!!!

I have suspected it this entire pregnancy -- I can't explain why. I haven't had a ton of dreams or anything like that. I just assumed, since I have no brothers, no knowledge of how to care for baby boys, and very little knowledge on boys in general, I would end up with a boy!

Despite the fact I know NOTHING about "Team Blue," I am INCREDIBLY EXCITED about our little guy -- excited that we will be getting a whole new experience . . . new shopping, new toys, and new joys.

I can't wait!!!!

(by the way -- the results of the poll? 50% of you thought it would be a boy. HA!)

Congratulations! I have 2 boys. Be prepared to be frustrated when clothes shopping after he's out of size 12-24mos. The stores just don't carry the selection they do for girls.

Wonderful news, on all fronts!! Yay!!

I always knew my first was a girl, and my second a boy. Weird.

As for the u/s pic of the little wiener, I really don't know how they can figure the images out. That didn't look anything like a penis to me...unless we're talking about that guy I once dated...

Awwww, boys are AWESOME!! I got 2 myself & they are TOTAL boys, mud & puppy dog tails included. And unfortunatly it's true about the clothes, there just isn't that much to choose from. Best wishes!!

How exciting! Boys are so different! There's something about the cuteness of my boys that melts my heart.

I love the fact that boys are so simple. I spend far less on my boys clothes, shoes, etc. than I do on my girls. It's great!! :)

We're so happy for you and are so thankful that your little man is so healthy!

When you said "I just assumed, since I have no brothers, no knowledge of how to care for baby boys, and very little knowledge on boys in general, I would end up with a boy!" Exactly me! I had never ever been around boys in my life and always thought I'd have a girl but God blessed me with two perfect boys that I love more than life. They are soooo fun! Congratulations! If you need any boy clothes I have a ton. :)

Yay for little boys - congrats!!! You know, I had those EXACT feelings about boys, and then I had one and I tell you what - you will have a special bond with that little fella, and it's so different than a girly bond, too. Not better, not worse, just different - and every bit as awesome. there's just something about little boys - they LOVE their mommies and it's so adorable, I think. You're gonna have a blast...even when you get peed on...in the face. :-)

Congratulations! My second is a boy and he is completely different from his sister. He is a total cuddle bug. Girs stuff is more fun, but little boys LOVE their mamas.

Congrats! Little boys are a lot of fun, very different from girls I'm afraid. I have two of each. Glad to hear he's a healthy growing boy! I had to laugh at the photo of the Little Lady, why do kids always go for the biohazard containers? lol.

Congratulations! Little boys are awesome. I found that out after our 3 girls. I was terrified at first, but he's such fun!

Yay for team blue!! I have 2 boys and they are really fun! A lot easier to manage than my moody girl lol. I agree about the frustration with clothes though, there is just nothing cute out there for boys once they're out of the 'infant' stage. *Sigh*

CONGRATS! Yea!

The only thing to really know, is to make sure you have a small towel or diaper handy when changing him. (to put over that 'area' before getting the diaper back on). lol. Otherwise you'll get a nice little facial shower. Ick.
