This morning, I suffered the scariest moment of my Mommy-Life. I found the Little Lady . . . .
ON TOP OF HER CHANGING TABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We switched her to her Big Girl Bed this weekend; until yesterday, it was a fairly smooth process, with only one bad night (she was awake till nearly 1am the first night) and one bad day of naps. Fortunately, after that, she began to go to bed easily and has been sleeping through the night (and back to her normal nap schedule).
Then, YESTERDAY arrived and delivered a naughty revelation to the Little Lady's mind: she realized that she doesn't have to stay in her big girl bed if she doesn't want to. Sigh.
The result of that knowledge? Her sock drawers and PJ drawer were completely emptied during naptime . . . . as well as the entire, brand new container of wipes! Grrrrrr.
Then, last night, the Little Lady woke up at 2 am and didn't go back to sleep till around 4:30! She wasn't just awake . . . she was WIRED the entire time.
When we first realized she was awake, we decided not to go in her room as she wasn't crying. The Little Lady was simply awake, singing to herself and playing with her Fisher Price aquarium. (Oh, yeah -- just because we got rid of the Baby Crib didn't mean we could get rid of everything -- the aquarium HAD to stay)
It was when she started kicking the wall OVER AND OVER that Hubby decided to go in (and, knowing he was tired and not really in the mood to deal with a wide awake toddler, I followed).
I swear -- that kid acted like she had a hidden stash of chocolate somewhere in that room. She was absolutely NUTS! Out of her bed, turning on every musical toy and dancing like a crazy woman . . . singing, laughing. Even though it was nearly 3 am by this point, it was hilarious to watch her; we couldn't help but laugh because her behavior was so spastic -- completely different than normal.
I thought that this "middle of the night" behavior would be the worst of it.
I was wrong.
This morning that little rat climbed up her changing table so she could look out the window; I found her when I went in to get her up for the day. I nearly had a HEART ATTACK! (yes, it was that dramatic)
Needless to say -- the changing table is leaving the room TODAY!
Sigh . . . and I wonder why I am tired all of the time.

Oh no! hehe.
Now I understand why my friend has a video monitor for her 3-year old. :)
LOL
Ah yes the new freedom stage
Oh this sounds so familiar. Back to being tired again, hey? Ugh! :-)
When Z made the switch to her toddler bed, I had to change "nap time" to "quiet time" because no matter how much I want to, I can't force her to sleep!
Oh, I remember these days... Have fun with this one.. sounds like she is very adventerous :-)
Oh my...good luck with that! I would like to say that I am so glad my four and six yr olds are passed those "toddler" issues...but I think I would be crazy to! It does not matter what stage your kids are in, there are always going to be moments like these that make us mommies feels nuts! Hopefully you will get more sleep soon. When our 4 yr old suffered from Eczema, we were always up all night soothing itchy hurting skin. It felt like having a newborn for three yrs. Thanks to God we found Vidazorb probiotics and we actually sleep and he looks and feels great! It is amazing what sleep can do for us moms during times of stress! Hang in there, Caroline *mommy of two
I completely get it! We are in the process of changing Sweet Pea to a big girl bed. I dread it. My first two daughters did the SAME thing Little Lady is doing. I can't tell you how many time I found Pandi asleep on the floor (she would crawl out of bed to play and fall asleep there) or EVERYTHING in their rooms pulled out. Augh! But it DOES get better...promise!
Oh you poor thing! I would have about had a heart attack MYSELF!!
Seriously - you are only one of about four people I've hear recently how "rascally" their kids are. I am thankful to have calm and relatively NON daring kids who don't scale dressers or cribs. In fact, the most trouble they (HE) has gotten into recently is taking my coconut foot cream and putting it on his hands....then rub it on the wall. THAT was enough to almost put me over the edge. I have a feeling #3 will be THAT child for me....so I've got it coming. You all have prepared me!! Good thing they are so darn cute, huh?? :-) Hang in there - it'll get better. Promise.
My 11-year-old son STILL does stupid things like that, not realizing the danger...
Hopefully she will soon settle down...I'll send some of my exhaustion her way.
Oh how scary! I can't let my oldest be loose like that yet. He is still in crib and hopefully for a little while longer. We tried to have him sleep in a bed on a trip a month ago and he was up all night just like he had a chocolate stash too!
Love the story!!! Ellie is so cute!!! Sorry she is feeling bad!
Time to make sure all the furniture is bolted to the walls.
This is all part of the transition. I promise.
We just got a toddler bed for our daughter. She'll be 2 in July. So she won't be in it for a few months. But I'm so not looking fwd to those days.
